It is with deep regret that we announce the sudden death of Professor Maciej Mrowiec, Vice-Rector for Development at Czestochowa University of Technology. Professor Mrowiec passed away on 13 December 2022 at the age of 48.
The news of Professor Maciej Mrowiec's death has shocked the entire academic community.
We have lost a wonderful, honest man, full of personal charm and passion, always smiling, kind-hearted, open to new ideas and challenges. In spite of his academic achievements, successive positions and functions, he impressed us with his modesty and exceptional manners. He inspired us with his energy and constant initiatives. We will miss him greatly.
How difficult it is to say a final farewell to someone who was associated with our University for so many years.
From the beginning of his academic career, Professor Maciej Mrowiec was associated with the Faculty of Infrastructure and Environment of our University. There, in 1998, he was employed as an Assistant, and in the following years he obtained further degrees - PhD in Technical Sciences in the discipline of Environmental Engineering (2003) and DSc in Technical Sciences (2010). His scientific achievements were crowned with the title of Professor of Engineering Sciences (2022). The Professor's scientific interests were related to water management in urban areas. He published 20 articles and 65 co-authored articles in national and foreign journals, he was the author or co-author of 6 monographs and 15 chapters in monographs. He was a supervisor of 5 PhD theses and a reviewer of 3 DSc theses. In 2012, he was elected Dean of the Faculty of Environmental Engineering and Biotechnology. From 2016 to 2019, he served as a member of the Council of the Committee on Environmental Engineering of the Polish Academy of Sciences. During the 2016-2020 term, he was Vice-Rector for Innovation and Development and Director of the Institute of Environmental Engineering. In 2020, he took up the position of Vice-Rector for Development at Czestochowa University of Technology, which he held until now.
We bid farewell to a distinguished lecturer, supervisor and teacher of many generations of young academics and a warm-hearted colleague.
